Sign of the Times
Many of you are probably aware of the difficult the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's editorial board has endorsing one opinion or another - they famously chose not to endorse in the 2004 presidential election because they just couldn't come to a consensus.

It's telling, then, that the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's editorial board has written a piece criticizing the Senate for not taking action to take even the most timid of steps to try and get us out of Iraq.

Save Big Bird!
The recently introduced federal budget once again slashes money from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. If you valued Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird when you were growing up (or love any of their great programming like Frontline or their specials or anything else they do) or know people who do or just think the CPB ought to be able to put TV on the air without commercials, consider writing your Senators and Congressmen. Remember your hometown officials, too. Your campus officials will probably fight the good fight without you asking (but it doesn't hurt to urge them on anyway).

Hat tip to Renee Crawford on this one.

Miller Breweries' Man Law
Renee Crawford at Crawford's Take has written an interesting post looking at South African Breweries' negotiations with Miller employees regarding pension benefits and how it's pissing off a fair number of Miller women. You can read further at the OPEIU's Local 35 website that discusses the issue.
