Senate Passes Stimulus Plan

$168 billion. Democrats wanted to add another $40 billion in additional benefits but were blocked by a Republican filibuster. No Democrats voted against the final bill. Here is the roll call.

Symbolic or necessary? Any ideas.

Oliver Kiefer said...: both. half of the reason behind a recession is that people think we're in a recession and behave accordingly. consumer confidence is low, and i think this will help it

but as far as these actually checks making a serious difference... that's much more debatable.
