State Voter Turnout May Top 50 Percent
The Wisconsin State Journal is reporting that the State Elections Board is expecting voter turnout to top 50% statewide thanks to the Marriage Amendment, the Death Referendum, the Governor race, the Attorney General race, and the competitive race in the 8th Congressional District. That would make this the highest volume of voting in a midterm/gubernatorial election since 1970. Furthermore, they point out that "higher voter turnout could mean a boost for Democrats, who are generally less reliable voters than Republicans, said Mordecai Lee, professor of governmental affairs at UW- Milwaukee and a former Democratic state senator."
