Kohl Pushing to Change Legality of Selling Meat Products to Other States
This news blurb from NBC 13 WEAU of Eau Claire was one of those "this is a law?" things (to me anyway). And good Senator Kohl is working to fix the problem:
Did you know that it's illegal for Wisconsin meat processors to sell their products across state lines?

Senator Herb Kohl is pushing to change that and was in Eau Claire to talk about it. Currently, only meat processed in U.S.D.A. inspected plants can move between states. Wisconsin is one of 28 states with its own meat inspection program and has 15% of the nation's state-inspected meat plants.

Sales on the internet have also brought about interest in this legislation. Democrats and Republicans are behind the bill, primarily from Midwestern states.
So there you have a prime example of Herb Kohl working to fix very real problems that don't get a lot of attention for Wisconsinites, in this case those involved in meat production.
