Run for an Executive Board Position!
The Executive Board determines the direction and goals of the College Democrats of Madison. The Board provides members with great opportunities to hold leadership positions in one of the biggest student organizations on campus. Responsibilities of members on the Board include attending weekly Executive Board meetings, planning and organizing events and campaigns, and other duties specific to each position.
Any member may run for the following positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Volunteer Coordinator, Activities Chair, Communications Chair, Publicity Chair, and Community Outreach Chair.
*The Chair and Vice Chair must run as a ticket and must be gender balanced (one boy, one girl). These are the only positions that must run together.
See below for a description of each position:
Chair: Oversees the entire organization. The Chair represents the face and ultimate leadership of the organization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to leading Executive Board and General Membership meetings, coordinating the Executive Board, planning and organizing events, and communicating with College Democrats and other Democratic organizations from all over the state.
Vice Chair: Partner to the Chair and helps to oversee the entire organization. The Vice Chair takes on responsibilities of the Chair as needed and agreed upon.
Treasurer: Oversees the finances of the organization and handles our yearly budget.
Volunteer Coordinator: Organizes, recruits, and maintains volunteers for events, campaigns, meetings, etc. Also manages the membership database to retain and recruit members.
Activities Chair: Plans and organizes activities, events and campaigns for the general membership.
Communications Chair: Communicates with campus and local press on a regular basis. Writes and distributes press releases, letters to the editor, and other articles to the press. Writes and designs the semester newsletter. Maintains the press binder. Helps to coordinate the Publicity and Media Chair.
Publicity Chair: Publicizes events and happenings of the organization. Manages Facebook and Twitter accounts, and other social media. Coordinates other publicity opportunities.
Community Outreach Chair: Communicates with other student and campus community organizations. Coordinates events with other student organizations. Notifies the general membership of events and campaigns happening on campus.
